Yes, it is summertime again! In a period of about 8 weeks the biggest part of the working population will take their summer holiday and try to relax for two to three weeks. For recruiters it is a hard time to keep procedures running. It is hard to plan interviews, recruitment teams are understaffed, there is a lower response on posted vacancies and in the meantime the weather is great… What a drag!
What most of us forget is that end of August, beginning of September people return to their jobs. And then it happens.. after relaxing for a couple of weeks people do not want to go back to the same job in the same building with the same manager. They, carefully, start looking for a new job and … they can not find your vacancies. How is this possible? What did the recruitment professionals do during summer? Well they were busy archiving old files, structuring their D-base, enjoying that extra day off and so on.
But instead of all this they should have been preparing for a smashing campaign, aligning line management and structuring internal selection processes. Why not focus on a targeted social media campaign welcoming people back from vacation? Is it not the best time to focus on your Google statistics and your ranking? The recruitment website probably needs some updates?
So my advice? Enjoy summer, work smart and be prepared for fall.
